Tari in care ati fost/vreti sa mergeti
In ce tari ati fost si ati vrea sa mergeti?
Eu am fost in Ungaria, Italia (x2), Serbia si Slovacia (si in mai multe cand eram mai mica, dar nu-mi prea aduc aminte nimic ) si in curand o sa merg in Finlanda si mi-ar mai placea sa merg tot prin nord (Suedia, Norvegia etc.) si prin Egipt.

Re: Tari in care ati fost/vreti sa mergeti

Unde as vrea sa merg?

Well I expected a lot from it, and I was a bit worried that I would get disappointed. But I didn't.
After staying there almost two weeks I could write a whole book, I tried to make this shorter but not much success.
One of the first things that I noticed was that a lot more people who listen to metal. At least in Tampere and Helsinki (maybe it's different in other cities) you couldn't go in a store or in a restaurant or on a street without seeing at least one band T-shirt, a guy with long hair or even 10 year olds wearing that kind of clothes. Here you can walk for one hour in the center of the town without even seeing one. And here I get weird looks even for wearing a band Tshirt and normal jeans (I don't wear make-up or weird accessories or things like that) so at least I didn't feel like a minority anymore. There were even lots of guys with long hair, tattoos, dreadlocks and things like that, with small kids dressed in pink, those were funny.
Also, when the bus arrived in Vaasa, the driver was listening to Ozzy and he even said "Have a nice day those who are going at the festival".
Now the following thing might seem weird especially to people from other countries, I want to say I have nothing against bus drivers (this is the first example that comes in my mind) but you would understand why this is unusual for me if you saw bus drivers from Romania. I won't describe them though, like someone said, people know enough bad things about Romania without us saying even more on this forum.
They were all nice people and polite, if you entered a bus and took a travel card out to show it to that scanner thing or whatever it is, they even looked at you and said kiitos.
People from stores were also nice, they always answered and explained everything even if you asked for directions in a souvenir store, I never saw anybody angry or upset or to not talk nicely to me or anyone else. Even those guys that repaired the roads looked like decent people. Once again, it's not that I have anything with someone who cleans the streets, I am just saying how they are compared with how I am used to.
I also don't think Finns are that quiet or shy or any of the things I heard. Everyone I talked to was just normal, they were all friendly. I think the only different thing is that they kinda talk quietly, for example compared to Italians who talk more loudly and they use a lot of gestures and things like this. They were funny though, if I asked them for directions in English they answered in Finnish and if I asked in Finnish they answered in English.
I also liked the fact that I saw no stray dogs or dead dogs on the roads between cities. There are a lot in this town. Well I really like those dogs, I know most of the dogs around my school, and I always play with them and when I walk alone from school to another place I encourage them to come with me and keep talking to them. Once I went somewhere and by the time I got to the destination there were like 20 dogs following me. But I know it's not good for them, and they need food and doctors, plus it can be dangerous for people who walk their dogs (especially if their dogs are cowards like mine ) and they meet 5 huge dogs in a park with no other people around.
And I have to admit that it's colder than I thought. I first noticed that on the plane, before it started to fly it was just a bit warm, not warm enough for me to lift my hand and start the air condition. But all the Finns were pushing all buttons and asking why the hell does the air condition work only after we take off.
Then I went to a lake, it was about 8 in the evening and around 15 degrees. There was sun, so I thought I should go in and start swimming. The water was soo cold though but I got used to it and stayed about 30 minutes, until there was a huge cloud. Of course I froze when I got out. I was standing there with my hair wet in a winter jacket, and there were Finns just arriving, trying to find shadows to stay, as if 15 degrees in the sun at 8 pm was too warm for them (!) , and small kids jumping in the water, coming out of it without even trembeling just a little bit.
I did go back in the lake in the following days though, so I think I could get used to that eventually. I can only imagine how it is in the winter, but I would prefer that any time than +40 degrees.
Oh, I also went at universities in Tampere and Helsinki. This is the hard part. I wanted to study law, but they have nothing in English for bachelor's degrees (the one that is right after highschool), just Master's. They barely have anything in English.
My initial plan was to study any law for a few years and then go to Criminal law in Finnish in Helsinki or Turku but it won't work because there is absolutely nothing in the law area. In fact in Tampere there will be just one option and that will be something boring like journalism, political studies or something like that, which is very far from what I wanted.
But I don't care. I decided I will study anything just to be there. Even though I hate politics and know nothing about it I would study that. Really anything just to be there.
And after that, hopefully I can learn Finnish well enough in 2 years for example and then move to law or start another bachelor's degree again. So it's going to be very hard and I will probably waste 2-3 years just learning Finnish and something that I will never need, but it will be worth it.
The only thing I didn't like, I have to mention it though, is that the finnish chewing gum sucks.
I think that was enough, so in conclusion I'll just say that there was nothing like the feeling at the second the plane landed in Helsinki, they started to play Sibelius and I was finally in Finland for the first time. So I can finally say that I made my decision and now I'll never change my mind.
