Totuis, referitor la poza, Nightwish e inca o trupa de metal din cate tin eu minte. Nu mi se pare ciudat ca are pierce-uri, face parte din imaginea ei de rocker. Poate n-o fi ea cea mai dura rockerita din lume, dar mi se pare ca se potriveste cat de cat cu Nightiwish, ecepatand bineinteles culoarea parului. Doar pentru ca fosta vocalista NW n-avea pierce-uri, nu inseamna ca noua vocalista NW n-are voie sa aiba. N-o mai critica pe Anette pentru fiecare lucru pe care il face. Poate nu-i asa de frumoasa ca Tarja, dar nu-i nici o vrajitoare. Si mi se pare ca arata foarte normal acolo. Istantaneele nu ies intotdeauna perefect.

Marco to leave his band life behind

Marco Hietala, having fallen in love with choral singing during his stint as a choir leader in the Finnish version of the TV talent show Last Choir Standing, has, after a long consideration, reached a difficult but unavoidable decision. He will quit his band career and concentrate solely on choral singing in the future.

Says Marco: "I’ve banged my head against the wall in various troupes ever since the early 80’s and raced around the world like a chicken with its head cut off. It took me 30 years to find the source of ultimate musical orgasm. In Last Choir Standing I realized there was no sense in making a fool of myself on stage with a bunch of hippies and spend my nights dazed in afterparties, while I could concentrate my energies on real musical art in the form of choral singing. It’s a process of growing up. With me, it just took a bit longer than usually."

In order to orientate towards his new lifestyle, Marco will retreat into a monastery to study choral singing. Brother Zacharius, a master of liturgical chant, will mentor the new “choirboy".

"I am not familiar with Marco’s former music", confesses Brother Zacharius, “but based on the photograph enclosed with his application, he does have certain visual characteristics required of a good brethren. We wish to welcome him warmly to our monastery and believe that he will find his place among the brotherhood."

"It is general knowledge that they appreciate fine drink in the monasteries", Marco muses, "so basically the transition shouldn’t be as radical as you might initially think."

Marco’s decision took the Nightwish camp by total surprise, although some seem to understand the bass player’s choice.

Says Jukka: "I can’t say that I would have expected this, but when you think about, Marco has dropped a lot hints of his true calling along the years. I’m sure everybody remembers the scene from From Wishes to Eternity DVD where Marco performs the song "Kolme Kättä ja Kuusi Penistä" backstage and manages to get everybody to join him. I can tell you it wasn’t the only time he assembled an impromptu choir. Also, he never was much of a bass player, so it’s kinda cool that he concentrates on something else from now on."

Tonight I am going to the studio again for the project I am working on. This is a project with two songwriters, Fredrik Bergh (Street talk, Bloodbound) and Martijn Spierenburg (Within Temptation). Great guys and songwriters and its an honour for me to record their songs;=)

What we will do with this project I will tell you more about as soon as I can of course;=)

The song I am doing at the moment is really fun to sing and tonight I will do the harmonies for it.

So again we are here in the deepest countryside of Finland beginning to create a follower for DPP. It`s just us guys for now, Anette will join the camp a bit later. We arrived yesterday and the reunion was celebrated with some water-skiing, bbq and Quilmes. I foresee the same trinity taking place more or less on a daily basis.

We just got the equipment and PA set up with the help of our legendary engineer / co-producer TeeCee Kinnunen and probably will start working with the songs in a couple of days. This campsite is so amazing we`ll let that sauna of a rehearsal room wait in silence for a while, and just concentrate on chilling out and catching up. And raising the official NW camp - flag high into the pole.

I have 12 songs completed now, but am still working with some lyrics. It`s been an immensely fruitful songwriting process, as well as very consuming and ponderous. But I feel more satisfied with the stuff than ever before. Don`t know if it`s a good sign or bad.
To me the album sounds like a rollercoaster ride in a theme park designed by Neil Gaiman, Tim Burton and Salvador Dali. That`s the best way I can put it at this point.

Like before, we will record a demo once the songs are arranged, to listen to and to perfect the material, and to give to Mr. Pip Williams so he can start with the orchestration process. The actual enter-the-studio-date is set for October 15th.
Again, the London orchestra and choir will be there, as well as Mr. Troy Donockley playing a slightly bigger part this time. And loads of new elements `n twists we haven`t tried before!

So things are finally rolling. We`ll keep you posted in written, as well as in visual form. Stay tuned for updates.
